Sitting on Africa’s northern shore, Algeria is the largest African nation by land size. Spanning 919,595 square miles (2,381,740 square kilometres), the Sahara desert takes up almost 4/5 of the country’s land area. Most of the population live in the north along the Mediterranean Coast, and that is where we will turn for this week’s FNF!
Our hub will be Algiers, the capital of Algeria. The airport has a unique runway layout, with all gates at the north of the airport. There is one ground frequency, two tower frequencies, and one approach. This airport layout allows for efficient taxi times and minimal conflict with arriving aircraft.
IFATC will open both African destinations served from the airport, plus a small selection of European destinations. If you are looking for an airline to fly, try the Dash 8 in Tassiili Airlines livery; they are based at the airport!
