Hey! If you were on while i was on center, sorry for the delays as we were moving the entire approach pattern to line up with the DARA1A and ENAG1A arrivals. Got a bit hectic for a bit. Mexico city’s winds and higher altitude made for some slow speed restrictions
I just departed out of MMMX, and it was so smooth thanks to the ATC operators despite all of the traffic, thanks guys @kadengg@CitrusAviatrix@MexicoVirtual, and anyone who I didn’t mention.
No worries whatsoever. I expected the delay and was actually curious how you would design the approach pattern for such an elevation and terrain-restricted airport. Really appreciate the service to the airport!
The arrival procedures are designed to filter aircraft into 2 arcs equidistent from a waypoint called the merge point. Aircraft are opposite direction, altitude separated on these arcs. We vector aircraft towards the merge point with set spacing and speed. They rejoin the approach procedure at this point ready to be cleared for their approach
This is called point-merge. However, it is crucial to use the set STARs and altitudes to avoid terrain, as well as slow to avoid overshooting the turns. Hence center will vector you around to line you up on a procedure for approach to then handle the merging @polaris-14
You can copy FPL from AeroMexico002VA at Terminal 2 gate 58
Spawn 10-15 minutes before the event
Please be respectful of all pilots and controllers during the event - it will be busy expect delays.
Please note a lot of aircraft are expected to be on the ground at one time. Please pushback responsibly and wait for others around you. More importantly, please give the controllers time and be patient when at the gate
We expect pilots to follow all SIDs and STARs to maintain separation.
Please ensure to follow the correct taxi procedures
ATC will be present during this event, please listen and adhere to all their instructions.
