The third busiest hub of Asia, Tokyo Haneda is a destination airport that has undergone a major transformation in the last 10 years, bringing much of the international travel of business routes into it. It is one of two hub airports in Tokyo, and is the hub of Japan Airways and All Nippon, as well as a major destination for Delta, bringing much of its fleet from RJAA into RJTT.

3

Rated one of the cleanest airports in the world during the Skytrax awards in 2020, RKSI sets the standard for airports around the globe. Serving as the obvious hub for Korean Air, RKSI is home to 11 different airline hubs, as well as serving as the focus city for three other airlines in Asia. The airport celebrated its 20th birthday earlier this year.

1

Replacing Kai Tak is a tough task, but Hong Kong International serves as the destination airport for Asia, operating as a major hub and connection airport for trips from North America, into Asia and beyond. VHHH opened in 1998 and is the home to Cathay Pacific, as well as several major world players on the cargo stage.

4

One of the few major world international hubs that operates both as a civilian destination, as well as Air Force Base, WSSS is a gateway destination for much of southeast Asia, hosting a hub for Singapore Airlines. It was also rated the world’s best airport by Skytrax in 2020 for its design, sustainability, and ability to handle mass traffic in and out of the airport.

5

Opening in 1920, YSSY is one of the oldest major airports. Beginning as a manufacturing destination for aircraft in and out of operating during the World War, it grew to became a major hub and destination airport for many around the world. YSSY is host to Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Jetstar.

6

Handling more than 70% of international traffic for New Zealand, Auckland is host to Air New Zealand and Jetstar, serving as a unique airport with just a single runway operating major traffic. Long-term plans include adding an additional runway, as well as an expansion of both international and domestic operations in the Auckland area.

While sign ups for our official IFVARB Summit taking place on July 11 at LEMD will take place via the IFVARB site, members of our community are able to just “RVSP” as they choose on this thread! This thread will serve as more of an informational post with flight plans, ATC procedures, and miscellaneous information along the way!

We want to help spread the word, so a simple posting of your callsign, and the VA/VO’s you a part of will suffice!

Pilots are encouraged to fly between the major airports during the Day 2 event as many times as they would like and may represent multiple VA’s throughout the day.

I’m looking forward to this! But I do have one question, we can fly any route from/to these featured airports, right? Or should we fly on one of the established routes? (It is my first summit, so I’m making sure that I’m not doing anything wrong haha)

For the Day 1 and Day 2 events, you are free to fly as you wish to and from destinations! For the Main Event on Sunday, we’ll have specific arrival and departure instructions, but your destination is up to you

Day 2 Routes Are Updated!

Day 1 is underway as we cross the Atlantic, but the party just keeps on going for Saturday as we crossfire between RJTT, RKSI, VHHH, WSSS on the way to and from YSSY, NZAA!

Happy flying everyone!

I’ll staff Madrid whenever that happens lll
