Malaysia Airlines Virtual - Ramadan Tour
As Malaysia Airlines Virtual looks for ways to best represent Malaysia and its cultural diversity, we’ve set out to celebrate the month of Ramadan in a 5 part series of events, starting in Langkawi, travelling to other cities such as Penang, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, and finishing in Kuala Lumpur on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, better known as Hari Raya in Malaysia and surrounding countries.
The first 4 parts of the event will involve two groups flying to the capital of a nearby city with flight times varying between 1 to 3 hours, while the Grand Finale will be a flyout from Kuala Lumpur, with routes to destinations all across the globe. We hope you’ll attend this event, as we’re more than keen on promoting Malaysia to the wider community.
About the Event
This week, we’ll be flying from The Pearl of the Orient in Penang, to Asia’s World City of Hong Kong. Taking us across Peninsula Malaysia and through the Gulf of Thailand before flying over Cambodia and Vietnam and crossing the South China Sea should make for some rather unique views before we begin our descent over the various islands to the south and west of Hong Kong.
Known through a number of different names such as The Pearl of the Orient, and more recently as the Silicon Valley of the East, Penang is one of the most important economies to Malaysia. Since the 1970s, Penang has been well known for its manufacturing of hi-tech products, as well as a major shipping lane, with the Port of Penang being the third busiest seaport in the country by volume.
Its a strategic location, being somewhat near to the border with Thailand also means that transborder trade between Nothern Malaysia and Southern Thailand encompasses a significant portion of the economy, despite the population in the region being somewhat sparse outside of Penang.

Malaysia Airlines Virtual is a virtual airline based in Kuala Lumpur with other secondary hubs in Langkawi, Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. Founded in June 2020, it has since expanded to well over 90 members based all around the world.
