On the 10th of November 2005, 1312Z, a Boeing 777-200LR lands at Heathrow breaking new ground, after completing a near 23 hour flight from Hong Kong to London. Flying almost 11,600 miles, and seeing two sunrises, the plane departed Hong Kong at around 10pm local time and flew east over the Pacific, the US, Canada, and the Atlantic, before finally touching down at Heathrow Airport in the early afternoon, receiving its new record for the farthest flight flown ever by an unmodified commercial aircraft. For our next GFS, we’ll be flying this world record route, from Hong Kong to London eastbound.
