Aegean Virtual is celebrating its first anniversary of operations, with an event focused on the Aegean archipelago.
Our virtual airline commenced operations on August 30, 2025 and we invite everyone to celebrate with us by flying toward the pleasant Mediterranean summer climate and the peak season of the Aegean islands. This event will be held on September 1, 2026 aiming to bring more attention to our birthday by becoming featured on the schedule!
Aegean Virtual Group is the virtual flag carrier of Greece in Infinite Flight, certified in late summer of 2025. Inspired by the modernity and innovation of Aegean and the prestigious status of Olympic, the VA boasts an extensive route network across Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Oceania, but not limited to mainline routes, since we profit from our numerous codeshare partners across the globe.
As the prevalent virtual airline in the Balkan Peninsula, we strive to bring Southeast Europe and the Balkans to life, delivering this scenic region to your eyes. By orchestrating frequent group flights and events, we promote further activity in our homeland, for instance this event.
Aegean Virtual Group offers a likeminded community with an engaging and supportive staff team, an integrated crew center, exciting events which are all meticulously organized in the benefit of our pilots. One year since our operations began. One year of developing, flourishing, expanding to greater heights. One year of continuous dedication and passion for Hellenic Aviation. One Year of Flying AEGEAN. We complete one full earth rotation of flying over the Aegean archipelago, and we call everyone to cruise over our blue seas and skies toward its destinations. Every pilot, every VA, every VO, is invited for a summer vacation to the land of democracy and civilization, and called to fill up the Hellenic airspace!
This event’s featured route consists of a short haul between the busiest airports in Greece. The name “Aegean Sea” comes on occasion of a famous piece of Greek mythology, and how this beautiful archipelago inspired the branding of “Aegean Airlines”, and, eventually, “Aegean Virtual Group”.
Origin of the name “Aegean”
Prince Theseus of Athens sailed to ancient Knossos of Crete to enter the Labyrinth and slay the dreaded Minotaur. Before departing, his father, King Aegeus of Athens, instructed Theseus: If you survive, raise white sails on your return ship; if you perish, leave the black sails.
Theseus defeated the beast and set sail from Crete back toward Athens. However, overwhelmed with joy from his triumph, Theseus forgot to switch the sails from black to white.
As the ship approached the Attican coast, King Aegeus stood waiting on the cliffs of Cape Sounion. Spotting the black sails on the horizon and believing his son was dead, Aegeus threw himself into the sea in grief.
In honor of the fallen Athenian king, those waters were forever named the Aegean Sea.
By flying this route, you are tracing the exact voyage of Theseus’s returning fleet, on the air. As you make your approach into Athens over the blue waters of the Saronic Gulf, you are flying over the birthplace of Aegean history.

- Always follow ATC instructions. Please refer to the User Guide for help communicating with ATC in the Expert Server. Aegean Virtual Group is not responsible for any violations issued during the event.
- Please utilize the gates appropriately. For instance, no fighter jets and general aviation aircraft on passenger or cargo gates, and no commercial aircraft on GA aprons.
- Respect all pilots. Do not overspeed, do not cut in line, do not taxi through others, buildings or grass, to save time. We understand your possible hurry, however this is not the way.
